Nathaniel Anthony Ayers and the movie The Soloist

NATHANIEL AYERS, a talented cellist, was born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio. A musical prodigy, as a teenager he studied music under Harry Barnoff at the Cleveland Music School Settlement. He won a scholarship to the music school at Ohio University. During his freshman year, he auditioned for the prestigious Juilliard School’s music division and was granted a scholarship. He continued his studies at Juilliard for three years. His friendship with Los Angeles Times columnist Steve Lopez is the inspiration for the drama "The Soloist."
